Levi's Men's 517 Bootcut Jeans

For years I wore the same jeans to work. Wrangler 34x34 boot cut. Over the years they fit a little different but they worked well and fit somewhat the same every time. When they changed to flex denim I quite buying them. I hated the feel they felt baggy loose and low quality. I bought some Arizona jeans a few years back that worked great but could hit the time to buy more cause they were out of stock. So in come Amazon. Tailored I'm a 33x33 so for years I've bought 34x34 because that's the most common size for your average guy. These fit great. They might be a little tight in the crotch area but with a few washes and any 100% denim will stretch a bit they're fine. We also don't dry out jeans and hang them up inside to dry so that will help with them shrinking. The rigid is a raw denim as they say and it's not been washed. I work a factory so that's perfect, they feel tuff and industrial and seem like they will last a long time. They are dark in color they will bleed in the wash so beware of that. I would soak them a few times before washing and be sure to keep whites out. You also have to be careful of streaks. Like detergent getting on it and they having some discoloration from that. Not a big deal for me but if you want them as dress up jeans I would pull them inside out as the wash instructions say to try and prevent that. I did buy some of these in the rinse color from a local store. They are the same color and fit exactly the same but they are washed once before they are sold. So if you don't want that stiff raw denim just get the "rinse" color. In all they fit exactly the same because you will wash the rigid and will be become rinsed so to speak. In all I hope that they don't change these jeans. It's kinda hard to find 100% cotton denim. I just don't like the flex and blended denims and just want stick to one size and one brand. I did buy there 527 bootcut and they are nice too but the denim is much thinner. I bought those for my non-work jeans. These 517's seem like good work jeans that hopefully will last a while.

Husband had lost weight after surgery, needed new size in jeans. Only wears Levi's. Hard to find 32 inch in length, these fit perfect and were 517 boot cut.

I was skeptical ordering this at first but could not find any boot cut levis black jeans anywhere near me, only straight leg. Needless to say i'll be ordering these on Amazon from now on. They fit very well but I'd suggest getting just a size up from what you normally do for your waist size. (Example: If you wear a 32X32 maybe get a 33X32).

The waste was too small. I returned the item very easy to return and quickly taken care of.

Sometimes I have had to drive to a store to get similar jeans for almost double the price. These were shipped fast and the quality is solid.

I usually wear a 30x32 in my shoes and a 30x34 in my cowboy boots. I ordered one of each, and when they came in, the 30x32 fit perfectly, but the 30x34 I couldn't even pull up to my waist. I measured them, and they were actually a 27x34, though they were clearly marked as 30x34. I immediately sent them back and ordered another pair, but went to a 32x34 because I wanted to wear them with an undershirt and a button-down shirt, so with the extra layers, I thought it would be nice to have just a bit more room, and prevent the muffin top that could happen with additional layers. Now, the 30x32 fits perfectly. However, I decided to order a 32x32 pair so I could wear two layers of shirts more comfortably (I kept the 30x32 because they also fit well with one shirt tucked in). The replacement pair of 32x34 came in along with the 32x32. I opened them up, and I noticed the 32x34 sat higher on my waist than the 32x32. They fit okay, and the length was good for my boots, so all was good. Next, I tried on the 32x32, and the waist fit as expected; however, they were clearly shorter than the 30x32. I laid them out on the counter and compared them, and sure enough, the 32x32 were 1" shorter than the 30x32! (see photos). Out of four pairs of Levi's 517, I have had fit issues in both the waist and the length. Where is the quality control? I haven't decided whether or not to send the 32x32 back. The length when standing is okay, but sitting down, you can see too much of the sock. Had the 32x32 been the same length as the 30x32, I would have had a perfect summer and winter jean. Buyer beware: I also ordered the dark blue in these, and they all seem to run smaller than the lighter colors. FYI If the size had been consistent, I would have given 5 Stars. The material quality is excellent, but the attention to size detail and correct labeling is far from perfect. If you order these jeans, note that if you are giving them as a gift, they must try them on before the return window closes, because you can't go by what usually fits in both waist and length, even with the same jeans in the same style and color. One last thing, I ordered black in the 517's as well, and I had to go with the 32" waist. I couldn't even button the 30", and the 31" gave me a muffin top. So, all in all, most Levi's fit in the 30x32 or 30x34, depending on whether I'm wearing boots or shoes. The 517 runs differently in the waist size depending on where they were made. So far in Levi's, the 30" waist has been good in the 501, 502, 505, and 527. I do know that even the other numbered Levi's fit differently depending on where they were made, but not by enough to be a 2" difference. As long as Amazon doesn't charge for returning products that don't fit correctly, I'll continue to buy Jeans from them. This will be fun this Christmas as my two sons wear similar sizes to me, and getting a perfect fit, hopefully, won't be as challenging.

bootcut-jeans in schwarz sind ja mittlerweile mangelware, die levi's 512 ist irgendwie komplett aus den realen und virtuellen regalen verschwunden und wird m.w. auch gar nicht mehr produziert. die 517 ist große klasse, wenn die größe stimmt! und bei mir passt die hose eben nicht, wenn ich die hose mit der bundweite kaufe, die bei der 512 immer gepasst hat: 33. nicht nur, dass sie mit 33er-bundweite hochgezigen bis über den bauchnabel reicht, auch kann man den eindruck gewinnen, dass der bauchbereich, den amerikanischen verhältnissen angepasst (?) etwas zu großzügig gestaltet worden ist ;-). und die hose weitet sich beim tragen doch recht extrem, so dass ich mit der 33er-bundweite nur sehr kurz zufrieden war. die 32er-bundweite wirkt beim tragen zunächst zu eng, weitet sich dann aber recht schnell in richtung bequemen sitz. was lehrt uns das? die größe und auch stoff sind nicht direkt mit der 512 zu vergleichen. und einen kleinen wermutstropfen stellen auch die nähte dar, die im vergleich zur 512 relativ hell sind - aber das ist nur ein kleiner wermutstropfen für eine hose in schwarz, die sonst ausgestorben ist!

The fabric is thick, but soft at the same time. Fits tight and looks great. Head turning with Levi’ denim jacket. You’re lucky if found matching cap to complete the look. Light brown suede is a must.

I just found out that while levis is using vanity sizing, a size 34 in a bootcut jean actually fits a bit tighter than a size 34 in a straight fit levis jean. The waist band in a 34 boot jean measures 17.5 which translates to 35 inch while a straight fir jean is an 18 or 36inch. Snug fit but not restrictive atleast for my body. I love the fit so much.

Nice Jean's, I had a pair of 33inch 527s but sent them back as the fit was too low and tight, these are very different. I wear a belt with them and find them very comfortable. The leg length is perfect when wearing boots but a bit long when barefoot so I turn them up at home.
